The Screen Cartoonists, Local 852 was first associated in 1936-37 with the Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators, and Paperhangers of America; it was chartered by AFL on November 29, 1939. The Local signed its first contract in 1940 with MGM and successfully negotiated a bargaining agreement with Disney Studios August 1941.
